What’s new in 2016? An expanded format for the Awards Event:

For the 2016 edition of the ITA Tunnelling Awards event which is supported by the Tunnelling and Underground Construction Society, Singapore, and to be held in Singapore, there will be two important days:
•           On November 10th, a one-day Technical Conference with 8 high-profile keynote lectures.
•           On November 11th, the one-day Awards Conference and Banquet Dinner, during which the awards will be presented.

Technical Conference on November 10th:

At present there are a number of tunnelling projects underway in the island state of Singapore for mass transit lines and utility services peaking with 50 TBMs engaged.  Studies and detailed designs are also in progress for further transit lines, deep sewers as well as tunnels to support the expansion of Changi Airport. The one-day Conference will provide an opportunity to share knowledge and experiences gained locally by four keynote lectures together with another four keynote lectures from overseas.

An Award trophy embodying a brilliant and famous engineer:
Isambard Kingdom Brunel (9 April 1806 – 15 Sep-tember 1859) was a British Mechanical and Civil Engineer considered “one of the most inge¬nious and prolific figures in engineering history”. With his French father (Marc Brunel), they designed and built the Thames Tunnel in London England, which was the first tunnel to be excavated with a Tunnelling Shield starting in 1825.

ITA Tunnelling Awards Conference and Banquet Dinner on November 11th:

On this day, finalists will present their achievements, and describe the unique and innovative features that convinced the judges to select their projects. A broad array of the most impressive tunnelling works, as well as innovations and excellence in engineering, safety, environmental initiatives and use of underground space, from around the world will be presented. This conference will be a unique opportunity to discover, learn and share the outstanding projects and the recent state-of-the art practices.  The event will also be a day for networking, and an opportunity for global and local companies to present their services and technologies as part of our dedicated sponsoring program. A banquet dinner will close the event during which the winners will be announced and the awards presented.
